The Heart & Vascular Center at Cottage Health is a hospital-physician-led initiative established to focus on cardiovascular conditions and treatments across the full continuum of care. Through a shared vision of perfecting outcomes, it is our goal to deliver the highest value-based care to the patient by incorporating evidence-based practices and applying resources judiciously.AUDIENCE This symposium is designed for cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, physicians in training, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, family practice/internal medicine physicians, hospitalists, physician assistants, cardiology technologists, and other healthcare practitioners involved in the care planning of patients with cardiovascular disease.COURSE OBJECTIVESSummarize the diagnostic features and management of spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD). Review the clinical evidence supporting the vein of Marshall ethanol and its emerging roles in ventricular tachycardias. Examine the pathophysiologic basis of guideline-directed medical therapy in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), as well as treatment strategies. Discuss risk stratification, new treatments, and the role of advanced imaging in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Summarize the direct and indirect effects of COVID-19 on cardiovascular disease and examine the benefits and risks of COVID-19 vaccines. Examine the underlying causes of cardiovascular risk factors and their relationship to nutrition, including changes in the microbiome due to outcomes of COVID-19 and ethnic disparities in mortality. Evaluate various surgical methodologies for aortic arch repair, including endovascular and open options. Discuss Randomized Control Trial (RCT ) outcomes related to the management of Aortic Stenosis including durability rates and those not treated in the trials. Discuss approaches to diagnosis and therapeutic strategies of gender differences in ischemic heart disease.
